Biography
Milena Ivić (b. 1995, Novi Sad) graduated from the AUBL, department of graphic design, and is pursuing a master's degree in intermedial arts. Her practice interrogates the paradox of freedom in a post-war divided country within political, economic, religious, ethno-national, and cultural contexts. Employing conceptual, performative, and feminist strategies through provocative and socially engaged approach, she explores whether art can disrupt dominant paradigms, and intervene in reality, going beyond institutional confines.
Ivić was awarded a solo exhibition (2019), from the MSURS for her graduate work. Her critical engagement with the museum's Gallery Plus during the same project, earned her the status of a dissident (2020), with censorship experiences influencing her practice to occupy public spaces. Since 2020, she has exhibited across BiH and the region. Her work was included in Secondary Archive, web platform for women artists, Central and Eastern Europe.
Milena participated in residencies (Nona Residency, Sarajevo, 2022; Atelijeri Žitnjak, Zagreb, 2024), and contributed to panels, workshops, and symposiums (Art of Peace, Sarajevo and Perth, 2024). Ivić is a member and has worked on cultural projects at the Association for Culture and Art Crvena and co-founder of SOBA, an initiative for horizontal collaboration among artists, activists, theorists, and performers.
